A Turn Beyond Boundaries

I wanted to create something dimensional, with layers that would cast shadows and change depending on the light and angle. As the design came together, squares turned to diamonds, diamonds became squares again, and the shapes began extending beyond the boundaries of the rectangular background—which ultimately inspired the name, A Turn Beyond Boundaries.

Each piece was individually cut, fitted, and layered using a mix of walnut, maple, white oak, and spalted woods. I added small copper details throughout for just a touch of warmth and contrast, including a custom copper centerpiece I designed and cut specifically for the center diamond.

This was one of those pieces that evolved as I built it. I didn't know exactly where every piece would lead when I started, but that's part of what made creating it so rewarding.

The finished piece is bold, dimensional, and completely one of a kind—and easily one of my favorite pieces I've created.
